7 House Interior Design Tips For Small Space Living By Sue E Krippner Platinum Quality Author

7 House Interior Design Tips For Small Space Living By Sue E Krippner Platinum Quality Author Small spaces have great potential when it comes to house interior design. Make more room while giving each space your unique design expression by applying these 7 rules the pros use!

1. Slim Down – Get a large box, basket or bag and sift through those small accents. Too many little things sitting around a small room will clog of the room’s space quickly. It’s amazing how much air space you will create by being super specific about what you have placed on table tops and shelves.

2. Trim Down – Heavy, bulky window treatments not only block the limited light in your small room but are also space hoggers. Free those windows by using shades, blinds or even shutters. There are some gorgeous options to be made or purchased at your favorite house interior design store. Have a little extra money to spend, have your blinds custom designed in fabrics that compliment the rest of your room’s decor.

3. Color Down – Though a variety of color breaks up a large house, too much color in a small one will work against your already limited amount of space. It is best to paint all the walls one color or use a similar pallet hue for small subtle changes from room to room.

4. Lighten Up – Pull in that limited light with the use of mirrors positioned directly across from a window. Use semi gloss paint to reflect the light and keep your furniture polished and your appliances clean.

5. Fabric Up – It is better to fabric up your accents and leave the large furniture pieces to solids. If you already have a busy couch with a floral print, shapes or strips, consider toning things down a bit with a slip cover. Then, bring in those extra fabrics in your accents to provide some visual depth and emotional interest. Have fun with this part of your house interior design project!

Bring in those weaves, patterns, and quilted fabrics for this.

6. Liven Up – Nothing says open space and health like fresh plants placed around a room. Potted plants are preferred but bountiful bouquets regularly freshened up will also work well.

Limited for room? Positioning a potted plant in front of the fireplace mantle during the warmest time of the year is a great use of that space. Angle your furniture and use the extra space to display an indoor tree or palm.

7. Step Up – Light bare wood is always the best and beautiful of option for giving a small room a larger appearance. Flooring in an apartment cannot be changed but it can be changed up! Place a lighter area rug on top of the existing carpet. Or in the case of a dark linoleum find a light bamboo or Berber to bring out the light.

Classic White Living Room

Designer Angela Free used four different shades of Benjamin Moore white paint in this living room: Spanish White on the inner wall molding; White Dove on the outer wall molding; White Opulence on the molding and crown trim; and Sand Dollar on the ceiling. Free describes this latter color as a "a very pale rosy white"; she painted it in high gloss to create "a soft reflective glow." Decorative artist Katherine Jacobus painted a subtle faux linen effect on all the molding to give it a sense of depth and dimension

Home Decorating Ideas for Christmas 2009 from Christmasworld

What is the best 2009 Christmas decor trends to your ideas choice? Did Christmas decorating have been installed into your home year after year? If you want to have the new ideas for decorating your house at Christmas, this is general theme from Christmasworld for Christmas Decor Trends 2009-2010. It is declined in 4 decorating trend ideas; Airy for Spring season, Sweet for Summer season, Comfort for Autumn season and Obsession for Winter season. So feel free to be inspired home decorating ideas theme to decorate at Christmas, New Year’s Day and also Thanksgiving.

Home Christmas Style Design

Airy is characterized by lightness and transparency. It feels romantic in a modern way. Soft pastel colours, blurred motifs and fluid structures lure the observer into a fairy like fantasy world. Plenty of glass vases, baubles and crystal are a must. The color parameters are created by chalky pastels ranging from cream to pink and pale grey, all combined with lots of white. Transparent, translucent materials are as light as the colors. Comfort is an evolution of the birch bark, the deer and the natural theme that was popular on the last two years. Comfort plays with contrasts in textures, materials and styles. Make sure to include pieces made with natural materials. Feel free to oppose modern style objects with driftwood. A must are the touches of red or orange to enliven the decor. Comfort is the only trend that is sure to appeal to both genders. I guess that it will be theme used by Boyd Ferguson (re: modern rustic kitchen). This is by far the most glamourous decor for Christmas. I see Obsession as the next wave of the Hollywood Glamour theme. You mix metallic colors. Quartz pink and mauve lighten up mahogany, aubergine, violet and gold. I am impress with the lilac against the silver and gold. It might be something I try this year. You will need to look for curved lines, ornate objects, luxurious materials and fabrics like velvet and silk to reproduce the Obsession look. Sweet is the most feminine decor. It is unusual to see pink floral patterns at Christmas. Do not be afraid to use a multicolor palette. This decor feels fresh and girly with a hint of kitsch. The milky palette extends from sand, aqua and turquoise to violet, lime and slate grey. Materials include plastic, varnish and porcelain, tulle and satin ribbons. Surface are over-sugared, candied and glazed. For me, this decor screams more bridal showers and tea parties than Christmas. For that reason, I am not sure about it as a great Christmas theme. On the other end, you will probably reuse most of decorative elements the rest of the year.

Luxury Floral Crystal Chandelier

We're loving this floral chandelier from DK Living. It is made of several clear glass florets attached together to form a sphere chandelier. We saw it in person at the Las Vegas show and we thought, whoa, it looks so much better in person. We can see it in a powder room or an entry way, perhaps?

The chandelier is priced at $1025 including shipping. The diameter is 27.5" and it weights approximately 55 lbs.
